All Natural Henna

Looking to add a little more beauty and meaning to an already special event? Whether you’re going on vacation, celebrating a birthday, having a baby, or just looking to treat yourself, henna always enhances the occasion.

My henna is all natural and homemade by yours truly. Other henna products typically contain harmful additives and chemicals that can irritate and even burn the skin. Not in my paste! The only ingredients found in my paste are the henna plant itself, lemon juice, water, sugar and essential oils (lavender, Cajeput and Eucalyptus).

The Henna paste goes on the skin and takes around 30 minutes to dry. Once dried, the paste should stay on for 4-6 hours for maximum strength stain, after-which the paste can be removed. Once removed, the stain may appear anywhere from a soft orange to a light brown color. Over the next 48 hours the stain will darken to a deep red/ brown color on the skin and will last up to 7-10 days.

FAQ’s

How should I prepare before receiving my henna application?

In order to have the most successful henna application I suggest washing and shaving the application area prior to the appointment as well as avoiding the use of lotions or oils after cleaning the area.

How should I care for my henna after it’s applied?

Aftercare will affect how well your henna stains and lasts on the skin. For the best results I suggest the following:

  1. Letting the paste dry for a full 30 minutes before touching or covering it.

  2. Leaving the henna paste on the skin for 4-12 hours after application. (I can apply medical tape or a lemon/sugar balm to the design once dry to allow a longer lasting leave on period.)

  3. Remove paste with olive oil or coconut oil

  4. Avoid water for 24 hours after application, or 12 hours after the paste is removed. Prior to the first shower or water exposure apply coconut oil or vaseline generatively to the henna stain to protect it.

What should I expect from the stain?

The stain will darken over the first 48 hours after application. The color of the stain will vary based on the individual, application area and how well before and aftercare instructions are followed. Henna shows up darkest on the hands and feet and will appear lighter the further away the application is from these areas. Sometimes medications, hormone levels ad skin types can affect the stain. However henna should leave at least a light brown stain on nearly every individual. Stains typically last around 7 - 10 days.
