"And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared of God"

-Revelation 12:6

I've been thinking about this concept of fleeing into the wilderness. So many righteous men and women in the scriptures have fled into the wilderness. Away from everything they've known. Away from all of their comforts. Into a place vast in desolation, uncertainty, unfamiliarity. Void of nourishment and safety. Only to find that God had prepared a place for them. Only to find that God drew them close and nourished them so that they could come to know God more fully, and know themselves more fully.

There are scholars who believe that the woman referred to in Revelation 12 is Heavenly Mother. There are also scholars who metaphorically believe that She is still there, waiting until it is safe for Her to return. Until Satan (the red dragon) is no longer waging war on Her. I'm not sure that I believe that. I'm not sure that I don't.

Either way I keep coming back to this image that She is there. Waiting for us in the daunting wilderness.

How many of us have fled into the wilderness after Her? Either knowingly following in Her footsteps, or seemingly following in the footsteps of other women (or men) who walk before you. How many of us have made that journey nonetheless, and found that She is the place that God hath prepared for us. That She is our nourishment in the vast nothingness of the desert. And how many of us are trying to prepare the world for Her return? To insure that it is safe for Her to come back?

All prints are Giclée, printed on Fine Art Textured Paper. Prints are archival, made to last for 100 years without fading. All Prints are printed at the selected size with an additional one inch white boarder surrounding the printed surface to provide space for framing. All prints include a 3”x5” print of the artist’s statement as pictured, as well as a hand written thank you note. Custom sizes and canvas prints may be available upon request.
