Mourning With Those That Mourn
With all our offerings, let us offer salt.
By the tears of our eyes, and the sweat of our brow.
Let our offering extinguish the fires in our cities, in our marginalized, in our suffering, in our hearts.
Let it become the salt of the earth after the controlled burn fades, and prepare the freshly renewed soil for regrowth.
Let it nourish the sprouts of the seeds we have planted into adulthood.
Let it never lose its savour, that all may taste of the fruits of our labor.

"Neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking . . . With all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt" Leviticus 2:13
"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." Matthew 5:13
