"She Wept" Print

from $25.00

This piece was created amidst the Black Lives Matter uprising of 2020 and ongoing protests for racial justice. These events also happened to occur during a global pandemic where hundreds of thousands of people were (and continue to) suffering and dying.

I started this piece with the intent to display my own sorrow over the condition of our world. Though, as I painted I felt Her weeping with me, and it morphed into a depiction of Her divine sorrow.

Sometimes I wonder how She manages the sadness She must feel as She sends Her children to earth, knowing the oppression and pain that they are bound to face. I wonder how She feels anything but an overload of mom anxiety and sorrow as She watches Her children fighting, suffering, and hurting one another. I wonder if She ever feels too far from us. If She ever wishes She could bridge the distance between Her and the children that so desperately need Her comfort.

I don’t know how She does it, but I can’t imagine any other act requiring more strength and resilience than being The Divine Mother of all of these imperfect, precious, mortal souls.

All prints are Giclée, printed on Fine Art Textured Paper. Prints are archival, made to last for 100 years without fading. All Prints are printed at the selected size with an additional one inch white boarder surrounding the printed surface to provide space for framing. Please note that some print sizes may crop the painting to adjust to the selected size. I make sure that all sizes offered still provide the beauty and essence of the painting, even when cropped slightly. All prints include a 3”x5” print of the artist’s statement as pictured, as well as a hand written thank you note. Custom sizes and canvas prints may be available upon request.
