"This is my Savior" Print

from $25.00

This is the first painting I did on my iPad. I wanted to throw my iPad against the wall a million times as I struggled to figure out how to use it (I still do). I chose to leave Christ faceless mostly because I thought it would be too hard to give him a face that reflected him accurately. It thought I would ruin it if I tried, so I left him.

Now he hangs on my wall and I spend much of my time staring at his facelessness, reflecting on what it may actually look like, and I'm happy that I left him this way.

Often when I see paintings of Christ, I examine his face and think, "close, but not quite." I imagine that his face holds so much love, so much mercy and empathy that it can't be accurately captured in our human depictions. I imagine that the radiant beams that stream from his face will warm our souls with a fire so deep and comforting that we will never want to break our gaze. I imagine that when his face sees ours it will light up in celebration of our long awaited reunion.

I also like to imagine that when I see his face my soul will be met with immediate recognition and I will be able to say "This, this is my savior."

All prints are Giclée, printed on Fine Art Textured Paper. Prints are archival, made to last for 100 years without fading. All Prints are printed at the selected size with an additional one inch white boarder surrounding the printed surface to provide space for framing. All prints include a 3”x5” print of the artist’s statement as pictured, as well as a hand written thank you note. Custom sizes and canvas prints may be available upon request.
